An Early Learning Intervention Centre
In line with our objectives to provide resources for children with autism, Action in Autism established an Early Learning Intervention and Educational Centre for Infants and Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, in operation since 2009. This was established as a pilot programme for the government to emulate. It is the first early intervention centre in KwaZulu-Natal that caters for learners with autism This programme is headed up by Educational Psychologist Sabashnie Govender.
The Board of Management of the Early Learning Intervention Centre is comprised of:

- Manager/Psychologist: Sabashnie Govender
- Speech/Language Pathologist: Saira Karim
- EXCO Representative/lawyer and parent: Adrian Bellengere
- Centre Director: Kirsten Miller
- Parent Representative: Lindiwe Zama
The Centre makes available to our most needy families an intensive intervention programme for children aged 2-6 years.
- We offer an individualised, trans professional team approach to the education of children with autism.
- We offer a child and family oriented approach to ensure 25 hours a week of active engagement.
- We offer quarterly parent meetings to empower parents / caregivers with practical strategies; to build knowledge and skills and reaffirm and reassess knowledge and skills.
- We encourage parent to parent and parent to professional networking and support.
